One of 3 Storage Places built on 1% slope in America

Storage Pro is only one of 3 Self Storage facilities in North America built on a slope to prevent flooding.   Class 'A' storage facilities have underground storm water complete with catch basins to take surface water away via underground pipes from the site.  Being a Class 'A'  facility Storage Pro has this.   We all know however that on occasion City storm water facilities become over burdened and manholes covers blow off causing above ground flooding. Such events may occur only 1 in 25 or 1 in 50 years however at Storage Pro with 700 units we were not prepared to accept this risk.  With this in mind we retained engineers to design a facility built on a 1% grade to insure even if the City of Grande Prairie storm water system ever backed up the entire site would still drain via gravity.   Our entire site of buildings and roadways slope to the south 1%.  Storage Pro cannot flood unless Gravity ceases to exist. Insurance is good however building a facility guaranteed never to flood is much better in our opinion.
